Goal for good oral hygiene
Our goal should be to have healthy gums, good oral health, and minimal to no cavities.
We should brush our teeth at least once per day. However, the most critical time to brush your teeth is right before you go to sleep at night.
Brushing at night is very important to avoid cavities. This is why I usually ask my patients if they brush their teeth every night.
Yes, every time you brush, you should also floss your teeth. Brushing and flossing go hand in hand.
Flossing is important because brushing alone isn't enough to keep the teeth clean. You have to floss between the teeth to ensure all surfaces of the teeth are cleaned. Brushing and flossing every night is crucial for your oral health.
You should see a dentist every six months, every four months, or as often as is appropriate.
